Purpose
ASBP Advanced Curriculum Fellowship Program enrollment is available to physicians and other health care providers (e.g., dietitians, physician assistants, nurses, psychologists, physiologists) who hold bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate degrees in fields supportive of obesity medicine and are interested in increasing their knowledge in obesity medicine. The program provides participants with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of obesity and its associated conditions via completion of approximately 50 online instructional modules. Upon completion of the ASBP Advanced Curriculum Fellowship Program, each participant is allowed to use the official title of “ASBP Advanced Curriculum Fellowship Program Graduate” and receives a framed diploma.

Enrollment
To enroll in the ASBP Advanced Curriculum Fellowship Program, participants must complete an application, pay an enrollment fee and submit these via mail or fax to: ASBP | 2821 S. Parker Road, Ste. 625 | Aurora, CO 80014-2735 | 303.779.4834 (fax)

  • The enrollment fee is $1,800 for ASBP members and $2,000 for non-members. Enrollment is valid for three years.
  • Enrollment grants access to register for each of the 50 modules at $150/each (members) or $170/each (non-members).
  • Ten CME credits (AMA PRA Category 1) will be awarded for completion of each module.
  • Enrolled participants will receive a 25% discount on registration fees to ASBP biannual conferences.

Completion Requirements
Participants enrolled in this program are required to participate in approximately 50 instructional module sessions. Content modules are offered biweekly, except during holidays, ASBP biannual conferences and unexpected cancellations. Although module webinars are recorded, participants are encouraged to attend live conference calls, whenever possible, to make the most of the fellowship experience.

Sample topics may include:

  • Pathophysiology of glucose intolerance, metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes
  • Physical exam of the obese patient
  • Diet and nutrition
  • Inflammation
  • Pharmacotherapy
  • Behavior modification techniques

Participants who register for modules receive access to:

  • Links to journal articles (some may require purchase) addressing the module topic.
  • Recommended text chapters (when applicable).
  • A 60- to 90-minute webinar (biweekly on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST) led by an expert on the module topic, followed by a question-and-answer session that allows participants the opportunity to make the most of their educational experience.

Participants are required to read the articles and take a test on the content prior to gaining access to join the module instructor for the biweekly webinar.
